(Gregorian Holy Masses: offering of 350.00 euros)
Holy Gregorian Masses
These are thirty Holy Masses celebrated on consecutive days, without any interruption, for a single deceased person. They are called “Gregorian Masses” because they are linked to the account of Pope Saint Gregory the Great, who had Mass celebrated for 30 consecutive days for the repose of a monk who had died some time earlier. Saint Gregory recounts how, at the end of the celebration of the 30 consecutive Masses, he saw the soul of the monk enter Paradise.
It is not necessary that the Masses be celebrated by the same priest, but they must be consecutive. The Capuchin Friars will communicate the starting and ending dates of the Gregorian Masses, so that there may be union in a communion of prayer and intercession.
Since this involves the celebration of thirty consecutive Masses for a single faithful departed, the suggested minimum offering is 350 euros. With this more substantial offering, there is also the intention of carrying out a greater work of charity and support for missionary activities. *OFFERINGS FOR MASSES do not “pay for the Mass” but, through charity, support the material and spiritual needs of people.
As Saint Thomas Aquinas writes, “The work benefits not only the one for whom it is intended, but much more the one who performs it.” In fact, it unites the two great works of mercy: prayer and almsgiving.
Ordinary Holy Masses
It is possible to request the celebration of ordinary Holy Masses for personal intentions. For example, they may be requested for one’s deceased loved ones, or for people who are in particular need of God’s mercy and help, or in order to give thanks or ask for special graces, as well as for anniversaries or important occasions and also for other prayer intentions of intercession.
Thank you and a fraternal embrace!
